Vestream's research is featured on HackerNoon. Our founder, Non Fungible Howard, has published Vesting Is Crypto's Unfinished Payment Rail, built on our study of about 1.28 million finished token vesting schedules read directly from the chain.

What the article is about
Crypto has built the mechanism for paying people over time, but not the rail that makes sure the payment arrives. A salary lands in your account because the payer sends it. Most vesting doesn't work that way: an unlock only makes tokens claimable, and the recipient has to come and fetch them. The article looks at what that leaves unsolved, from tokens nobody collects to the gap between the day value unlocks and the day it's received, which matters for tax. It ends with six questions every vesting contract should be able to answer the same way.
The research behind it
- About 1.28 million finished schedules across eight protocols, on EVM chains and Solana.
- On most of the protocols measured, more than a third of finished schedules still hold tokens nobody has claimed.
- Up to $9.5M still sits unclaimed in tokens that trade.
The full method and per-protocol results are in our study, and the dataset is open on Zenodo under CC BY 4.0.
